Sensis

Need:

Sensis, one of Australia’s leading local advertising and search businesses, places a high priority on developing its people as a means to meet its growth strategy. Because an employee opinion survey and follow up focus groups identified a need to review the organization’s approach to performance management, Sensis called on DDI, an existing service provider, to help.

Solution:

Specifically, Sensis turned to DDI to implement Maximizing Performance®, which addressed the three key phases of a successful performance management process: planning, performing, and reviewing. The training provided participants with the skills they need to take charge of their jobs, their development, and their future. For Sensis leaders DDI has been able to make them more confident to provide effective feedback for reinforcement as well as improvement and to more effectively plan for staff development.

Results:

Reaction to the program was immediate and encouraging. Participants touted Maximizing Performance®s “consistency and uniformity as everyone is now performance managed the same way.” For their part, leaders gained significant confidence in their ability to effectively manage performance. To understand the value of this behavior change, DDI worked with Sensis to calculate the value of incremental improvements in leadership skills. This translated into a return to the business of 1,060 percent or $2.2 million on the training provided.
